Jeep Cherokee Restoration project - The exterior
The exterior was the best part. The vehicle that I purchased was not time correct, and so I had to find 3-part bumpers, a roof-rack and the original mirrors.
All of the seals are new. All of the chrome elements have been replaced by elements in better conditions.
The small triangle window was entirely dismantled and restored.
All existing chrome or plastic parts have been replaced by the correct versions, in better condition. The "Cherokee Chief" tapes were ordered at www.bjsoffroad.com, and the "Levis" sticker was found on www.ebay.com
All of the interior and exterior logos were removed with paint thinner and repainted in an identical manner to the original with a size 1 brush with marten hair. All of the rubber joints are new.
The exterior contains many chrome parts; unfortunately they were often stolen.
Because of this, I had to look for new ones in better shape on www.ebay.com.
Because finding Cherokee tail lights housing in good condition was impossible, I adapted Wagoneer
versions and lens covers from the Cherokee.
The mirrors are also hard to find.
Because the roof rack was non-existent, I had to pierce the roof.
